Philips DHR312 hard drive LOUD CLICKING

I just picked up Philips DHR312 Lifetime tivo. The hard drive is doing a lot of loud CLICKING, is this normal? If I upgrade the hard drive would the new one still do this? Aloso how big of hard drive can I go?

Well, yes, that's normal for a failing drive. Probably not what you wanted to hear.

But, a replacement drive wouldn't do that. Replacement drives are here:

You can go up to dual 160 GB drives.
