  • Upgradeing my HD on my Series2 TCD240080, what is the biggest drive?

Planning on upgrading my series2 tcd240080. What is the biggest hard drive I can put in it?

    Thanks in advance.

You can get a single-drive replacement kit herre:

Or we can do a dual-1TB drive kit by special order.

Thanks for the reply, I'm going to upgrade my existing Tivo Series2 myself and wanted to buy a standalone 1tb hard drive either online or at my local computer store. Just wanted to make sure which hard drive I needed to buy. I'm thinking that I can't replace the old 80gb drive with just any 1tb drive. (or can I?) I'm assuming it needs to be some kind of special drive? Because the one currently in there is a WD Performer (Home Entertainment Hard Drive). Thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

      Thanks in advance.

There's a whole word of info about compatible drives, and even so, manufacturers change firmware that still causes issues, so there's no real silver-bullet out there. We've seen DVR-specific drives that cause problems.

Bottom line is, our kits always have compatible drives, and we also sell unformatted compatible drives here:

        http://www.weaknees.com/tivo-dvr-hard-drive.php

A drive from a store or online just may or may not be compatible, and if you're looking for a SATA drive, that also introduces the issue of a compatible adapter.
        Been here a long time . . .
