  • Repeating Booting Cycle

I used the interactive guide with the tivo tools iso bc my dual hdd tivo was getting a lot of "scrambled" images and freezing on my TIVO 24004A. I ran a hdd test on the hdds and there were bad sectors. I purchased a new Seagate hdd (500gb) and tried the following:

    mfsbackup -f 9999 -so - /dev/hda /dev/hdb | mfsrestore -s 127 -r 4 -xzpi - /dev/hdd

Now when I boot up Tivo it keeps booting the boot equence "Powering Up" and "A Few More Minutes"

I don't know what else to try. I dont have the original image from the original non upgraded Tivo.

We can format the drive with the right OS for you:

Otherwise, you need to find someone with a good copy of the OS for your model.

Is that my only option? Why isn't the OS copying correctly??

Because the old drive is damaged. That's why you've been getting scrambled images.

Can I download a copy of the OS or do I have to send the hard drive in? I wanted my Tivo back up and running asap. I am pretty computer savy and I have no problems working outside of windows.

With us, the only way is to send it in for formatting.
