backup/restore fails

The backup/restore process fails at 44% during the process. I attempted to restore without recordings and it still fails. It appears I have a corrupted file or bad spot on my harddrive. How can I overcome this issue? Are there any disk utilities that can be run to analyze/fix the disk issues?

It sounds like you have a bad drive and there isn't much that is likely to help. Some people have tried Spinrite, but I don't think it's likely to solve the problem. If you have a new drive and want the software loaded onto it, see here.
