  • Rebooting problem

I got a internet is not connected message. I rebooted the router first, then I rebooted Tivo Roamio. It doesn't finish booting up, it just cycles a bit and then goes back to the start screen. Over and over

With your model, you almost definitely need a new power adapter ($39.99) and a new hard drive (starting at $249.99).

Most likely, as the power adapter degraded, it failed to produce the proper power for the drive, causing it physical damage.

Power adapters for your Roamio are here:

    https://www.weaknees.com/cart/Extern...ase-Model.html

And hard drives for your Roamio are here:

    https://www.weaknees.com/roba.php

Any size hard drive will work.

With these two parts, there is a 98% chance your TiVo will be up and running again. They are very, very easy to install and we include instructions with pictures and we include the tools you'll need.

Changing out these parts does not affect your TiVo subscription at all.

The problem with that, is a similar thing happened a couple years ago, and they had me put in a hard drive of my choice, a different adapter, and advised me to run it off a UPS from then on. Did so, and Weaknees put in the 10 gig hard drive. It better last a lot longer than that...

You could try just a new power adapter and see what you get, for starters.

12.24 volts coming out of the adapter...what is it supposed to be?

Impossible to measure. You aren't getting a reading under load. So any number you produce isn't what happens in real-world usage.

OK, Michael, I went ahead and ordered another 10 TB hard drive, with you folks deluxe installing it. I could put one in, but I hate losing all my stuff, so it's up to Weaknees. But, this is a pretty large investment and I did it once before. What can I do to keep from throwing another grand at this thing every few years?

Let's see what we get when we look at the unit and go from there.

Well Michael, you have my unit and I'm not sure who worked on it, but they are raggin' on me cuz my unit won't boot up! I kinda knew that, but we had to start somewhere, right?

Looks like your unit is really, really dead unfortunately. You've got some motherboard issue that we can't repair. That's pretty rare on a regular Roamio, but it does happen more and more as they get old.

OK Michael, it is what it is. I did mention that I would like that 10 TB hard drive back. There is probably nothing wrong with that, and I bought it from you folks in the first place. Might as well put it in another Roamio.

Yes Michael, send it back as a kit, or whatever you call it. It would be nice to know it's a good drive, and you owe me quite a refund, so do what you gotta do to see it is OK. If it is not OK, then use money left to send me one of yours that is ok. These Roamios are my favorite, with the 4 tuners, and all, but they seem to have some vulnerabilities. Concerning, to say the least. I have a second Roamio that I treated as a spare, or backup, but I have yet to fire it OK. I do have a Premier XL with one of your 6 TB drives in it, and it has performed flawlessly for quite a while, but it could use more than 2 tuners. Thanks

For sure - we'll refund the 10 TB drive that we aren't using and we'll reformat your existing 10 TB for use in another Roamio. Please see the email for details.

OK, Michael, I now have a different Roamio and I have swapped hard drives. I am seeing a totally unfamiliar screen layout. Is there something that changed or am I losing my mind, or what? If there is a way to revert back to the familiar menu screen, I would be all for it, for sure. Please advise, if you don't mind. Thanks
