  • Replaced dead Bolt having 4 Minis with Roamio from Weaknees

My Tivo Bolt with All-In Lifetime Service had a motherboard failure which Weaknees determined is not repairable so to replace it I purchased a Roamio with All-In Lifetime Service from them. It arrived in good shape, and installed without issue, and following the instructions I added the Roamio to my Tivo account without issue. I can use it.

My four Tivo Minis are associated with and still looking for the Bolt which is dead and in a box. I believe this is to be expected until I do something with them. I need advice on how to remove the Mini's association from the dead Bolt and then activate them and associate them with the newly installed Roamio. All units, the dead Bolt, Roamio, and four Minis are in my account. The Roamio and four minis are on on my network.

Knowing how finicky Tivo can be I want to do this step right. I searched the forum and did not find anything probably because I don't know how to key word this. Can someone tell me or is there a procedure you can point me to on how to do this?

Repeat Guided Setup on each of the Minis or do a complete factory reset (Clear and Delete Everything).

I did a complete factory reset (Clear and Delete Everything) as suggested on one mini, my oldest Tivo mini which is a model TCDA93000, and it took me through the setup flow and it went through it's setting clock-downloading sequence twice and seemed to be about to start when it put up "Please check your internet connection." message which is strange since it was just using the internet.

I then unplugged the mini's power, HDMI, and Ethernet cable, and waited 15 minutes during which I power cycled the Roamio which came back up fine. After the 15 minutes I plugged the power cable back in and pressed the reset button then it went through the setup and at the choose network step I plugged the Ethernet cable in and chose the ethernet option and it chugged along twice doing the set clock-downloading sequence as before and gave me the "Please check your internet connection." message as before.

Q1: My dead Tivo Bolt is still in my Tivo account as active. Should I have canceled it's service prior to resetting any of the minis?

You’re two main TiVos are likely running different versions of the software (te3/te4). The mini software won’t upgrade or downgrade, so you get that message.

The Bolt was on te4 so should I cancel it's service to leave only Roamio which appears to be te3 or upgrade Roamio to te4?

Final update on this I hope. I found that the Roamio was running te3 so I installed te4 on it. The Roamio then came up clean as usual and I did a complete factory reset (Clear and Delete Everything) on each mini. All minis are now using the Roamio as the main Tivo.

Thanks for your help with all this.
